Every Christmas Eve since graduation, brothers Bill Lunday, Dean Moffitt, Ron Jenson, Bob Butterworth and a few others meet for lunch in the Overland Park area. In fact, they’ve had to change locations over the years as the restaurants go out of business. The past few years, they have met at Tanner’s Bar & Grill on Metcalf Ave.
The core group of brothers all live locally. Every year, a few additional brothers will be in the area for the holidays and will join them for the holiday tradition.
This isn’t the only time the group reconnects, however. They all try to get together for an occasional dinner or round of golf with their wives, who are mostly Baker graduates themselves. The entire group even took a two week cruise to Alaska some years ago.
Bob Butterworth believes keeping in touch with brothers is a must. He simply advises to “just do it” when it comes to staying connected with your brothers.
“We believe Sigma Phi Epsilon is a brotherhood and while at Baker we were a family,” Butterworth said. “You always stay in touch with family.”
